So I finally got my very own web space and transferred my website from studentpages to there.

[link] <<My site!

Check it out.

I'm also working on a group project that is going smashingly well. I'm the TD on it, which means I'm doing a little bit of everything. I've rigged a bat for it, which you can see the rig for at my site. The version on there is an earlier version, I've since updated it but won't be putting it on my site until we're finished with the piece. I'm UV mapping, modeling, rigging, animating, compositing, lighting, miscellaneous... LOL

We're going to submit it to Siggraph and the SCAD demo reel. It's going to be awesome when it's finished which will be soon. It has to be completely done by the end of the quarter.

I'm Going to San Francisco Tomorrow

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 1, 2006, 1:33 PM
Yep...

LucasArts is flying me to San Francisco tomorrow morning for an interview.

I am bouncing off the walls with joy :D *BTW, that's an understatement*

Awesome happiness!

I'll let you all know if I get a job there. That would be the most awesome place to work in the whole world!

A New Quarter

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 8, 2006, 7:50 PM
So, I put off putting up a journal entry for a while. The reason is I no longer have a subscription and so I don't get all the bells and whistles that go along with a subscription.

I know, I know, I should buy one, but I'm broke. So there.

Anyway. Things are good. At the end of last quarter I got to speak with representatives from LucasArts and they are looking for riggers. They are coming back in the Spring and I'm definitely going to give them a reel. I don't know how I feel about living in San Francisco. It's a scary prospect when the ground can move under your feet. I never imagined that I might wind up living in California.

I'm on duty tonight for the second night in a row. At least I get it out of the way, so that's good. I've been working on lighting in Maya all weekend and I know I should probably be working on my senior project, but you know how that goes.

I need a subscription. I like my shinies.

Oh, and P.S. Buy a copy of Sea Princess Azuri by my friend
It's her first graphic novel and it's beautifully done. Pretty!

Harry Potter and Texas

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 17, 2005, 1:35 PM
I  :flaguk:

OMG. I finished Harry Potter at 4:30 this morning. I know who the Half-Blood Prince is! I know who dies. It was totally unexpected yet expected. I don't know how else to describe it. But I'm not saying who. That would spoil the fun of reading the book.

And you may wonder why the second part of my subject heading is Texas. Well, I'll tell you. We just bought 13 acres in the Texas Hill Country and have one year to start building a house. When I say "we" I mean Andy's family, so looks like I'm moving to Texas next year. I'm definitely moving if I don't find a job because if I don't find a job I want to establish residency in Texas and go to the University of Texas School of Law. That's right. I've decided that if I can't find a job as an animator or visual effects artist, I'm not going back to some dead end shit job. I'm going to be a lawyer.

And the pictures of the land from the realty site are so beautiful I almost cried. Right now the only structure on the property is a small one room cabin, but we're going to be building a house. The cabin is adorable though.

See where we're moving:

I'm so excited!!!

Summer time

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 2, 2005, 7:50 PM
I  :flaguk:

Well, I'm two weeks through Rising Star and it is going so well. It is absolutely fantastic. These students are a million times better than the average SCAD student. I suppose it's because they want to be here and they are serious about being here. Also, it's a hard program to get into. We have a lot of fun too though. We went to Charleston last week end and it was cool, even though it rained the whole time. We're going to see Charlie and the Chocolate factory when it comes out. And it's sooooo quite here at O-House, it's amazing. I get to stay here all summer. Looks like I'm going to get to move into Boundary Village either before or when Summer quarter ends, so I won't have to get a storage unit. If I ever have to get a storage unit again, it certainly won't be from the U-Haul on Abercorn. I came a total of three times over two weeks to get my stuff out of there after I got back to Savannah. It was over 85 degrees in there everytime and once it was over 100. I paid for climate control and they pull that crap?! I even told them about the fact that the AC wasn't on everytime I went and they said they'd do something and then they didn't. I thought the place was ghetto to begin with so I should have known better.

Well, anyway, my class is awesome. It's Pre-Columbian Art and Architecture of Peru. I so want to go to Peru. It would be really cool. The Incans made some pretty awesome monuments and structures. I'm having a blast here.

On top of that, all you peeps aren't even going to recognize me by the end of the summer. I've fallen in love with Club SCAD and have been going for an hour or two each day. It's a great facility. I know a lot of people have said that it sucks, but I don't think so. Andy's been going too. I might just be in shape by the time I graduate. Gotta work off all the JOs crap that I've been eating for two years.

Speaking of, JOs and Cafe SCAD are really really good eats during the summer. Must be because of so few students. We only have about 85 in Rising Star and there are only about that many in summer school down at Weston. Of course we have Summer Seminar come for a week at a time and that adds people, but O-House still isn't full despite that.

I'm having a fantastic time. I've also come up with a new idea for my senior project. I think I'm scrapping what I was going to do. Luckily, I have all summer to redo the storyboard. I think it's a cute idea what I have and I'm going to practice animating some more since I would like to improve upon my skills and since my project includes some animation. The last part of the summer after Rising Star is over, is going to be the perfect time to get started on it.
